Diploma in Social Gerontology

The Diploma in Social Gerontology is a two-year, stand-alone, part-time programme for mature students. The programme covers a broad range of economic, social and political theories relating to ageing and examines public policy for older people across a number of fields. MA/Postgraduate Diploma (Life Course Studies)

The PDip / MA in Life Course Studies is a two-year part-time programme and students are required to attend college two days every second week with the agreement of their employers. Core modules include;   Introducing the life course: theoretical perspectives, The life course: issues for practice and research. Social and policy perspectives on the life course, Support and protection across the life course, Inclusive community development, Contemporary practice issues and the life course, Legal perspectives on the Life course, Health, independence and wellbeing across the life course, Applied research thesis. Ageing with Confidence

Ageing with Confidence was developed by Age and Opportunity in 2001 as a community education programme. The programme was developed through a partnership between Northside Counselling Service (NCS), the HSE, Community Care Area 8 (formerly Northern Area Health Board) and Age & Opportunity.
