Ms Alison Herbert

P/T Lecturer, PR Practitioner, and P/T PhD student
Biography: 

Alison Herbert holds a BA in Sociology and Economics from the University of Stirling, Scotland.  Also, a Secondary Teaching Diploma from Moray House College of Education, Edinburgh.

Alison completed an MA in Journalism/PR from NUIG, from which she won a gold medal for PR student of the year.  Her MA dissertation ‘The Power of Influence’ examined motivational and inspirational speakers.

Alison established a Galway PR company, Public Relations Associates (PRA) in 1992, along with three others, but after a number of years took over the ownership and running of the business on her own.   

 As well as working within the areas of PR and Journalism, Alison lectures in ‘Business Communication’ within the College of Engineering & Informatics.

Geographies of ageing, lifecourse development, women and identity, mid-life development of women, rural ageing, quality of life

Research Projects: 

 A qualitative study on the ageing of mid-life women in Connemara
