A Research and Policy Colloquium on Social Exclusion and Ageing in Diverse Rural Communities

Date: Thursday February 23rd 2012

Venue: The Council Chamber, Lanyon Building, Queen’s University Belfast

Description: The Healthy Ageing in Rural Communities Network (HARC), which convenes this research and policy colloquium, draws its membership from the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology at National University of Ireland Galway, the Institute of Spatial and Environmental Planning at Queen's University Belfast, Rural Community Network, Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland) and FORUM Connemara. Funding awarded to HARC by the Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland (CARDI) has allowed for the completion of two major studies on aspects of rural ageing across the island of Ireland. This colloquium provides an opportunity to share the findings that have emerged from the current research project titled "Social Exclusion and Ageing in Diverse Rural Communities". Work carried out in other jurisdictions, outside the island of Ireland, will contribute additional insights for policy and practice related to rural ageing and social exclusion

Attendance is free of charge but advance registration is necessary. To book your place please e-mail Mrs Roslyn Barnes at Queen's University Belfast: r.barnes@qub.ac.uk
